My Sign-In links are not working

Cart66 Cloud has a handful of special URLS that you can use to take customers to various places throughout the buying process. Sometimes these links do not work. Below are a few things you can try to correct any issues that you may have.

Permalinks

Most importantly, make sure permalinks are enabled in WordPress as well as in the Cart66 Dashboard settings on the Settings Tab here or as seen below. If you do not know what permalinks are, we suggest starting here with the WordPress codex documentation.

If you are receiving 404 pages when you try to sign in or out you may need to reset your permalinks. To do this, follow the steps below. Usually this happens after you upgrade WordPress or if you change hosts.

Step 1 – Navigate to “Settings > Permalinks” in your WordPress Admin

Step 2 – Check the common settings to see what you have selected, then scroll to the bottom and click “Save Changes”.

Step 3 – Refresh your page and see it it works. Make sure to clear any cache from a cache plugin or from your browser cache. If your server is caching, be sure to clear the cache on the server level as well.

Check Your URL Setting

This is a very important setting and probably one of the top causes of many issues in Cloud. If you login to your Cart66 Cloud Dashboard here you will see a URL setting like the below.

It is very important to note that you need to make sure that the URL you provide matches that exactly of your live site. There should be nothing after the .com (or whatever your site uses) unless your WordPress install is indeed in a subdirectory. If you are site URL includes WWW, you MUST include the WWW and vice-versa. Technically, these are considered 2 different domains.

Redirect Plugins or Redirects in the .htaccess file

Sometimes redirect plugins or errant 301 redirects in the htaccess file will cause issues on these special URLs.  The easy solution here to troubleshoot would be to temporarily deactivate the plugin and see if the issue persists. If there are redirects in the .htaccess file you may want to comment them out for testing.

Does the {{cart66_title}} page exist and is it reachable?

It is critical that this page does not get trashed or anything on it change. If it is not available for Cloud to access, not only with the special URLS not work, you will have many other issues. You can read about the slurp page and its requirements here. This also means if your WordPress site is password protected or if you are using a Maintenance mode plugin or Coming soon plugin, these links will not work.

Last but not least, contact support and we can lend a hand to further troubleshoot.
